Boracay posts whopping P23B in half-year tourism receipts

Boracay Island, Aklan – It may be plagued with various problems, including environmental blight, congestion, and over-development, but Boracay continues to draw in hordes of visitors and generates a surfeit of revenues from tourism receipts.

Over 50,000 Tourists join Laboracay

More than 50,000 tourists joined this year’s Labor Day week dubbed as “Laboracay.”
 
Data from Malay Tourism Office showed that the island hosted 50,099 visitors during the Labor Day week from April 27 to May 3, higher compared to last year’s 49,992.
 
On May 1 alone, 10,701 tourists arrived in this resort-island to celebrate Labor Day, also higher compared to last year’s 10,431.

APEC OFFICIALS TO MEET AGAIN IN BORACAY FOR 2ND SENIOR OFFICIAL'S MEETTING AND MINISTERS RESPONSIBLE FOR TRADE MEETING

MANILA, May 2 --   The world-famous Boracay Island will be the venue for  the Second Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Senior Officials’ Meeting and Related Meetings (SOM2), and the Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) Meeting which will be held back-to-back  from May 10 to 21, and May 23 to 24, respectively.

KOREA, CHINA STILL BORACAY’S TOP TRAVEL MARKETS

Korean and Chinese tourists are the top markets of Boracay Island for the first two months of this year, according to Department of Tourism (DoT).
 
Korea continues to dominate other Asian and European markets accounting for 64,565 arrivals or 45 percent of 143,879 foreigners from January to February. 
 
Last year, Korean tourists had 40,511 arrivals for the same period.
